Rewiiind - Part II : New Job

About 2 weeks later, Karl thought it would be better if I worked at Subway rather than at Nicky’s and told me that I should go and see the manager. I didn’t really know what to do but I did end up going there with him one afternoon. After being in the office and chatting for a few minutes, I did get the job, and without an interview :-p . I had to go and inform Nicky’s wife immediately that I would be leaving and that my last day would be on Sunday. She was surprised and had a disappointed look on her face… I felt really bad… But not long after, she realized that it wasn’t a bad time actually, because one of the old waitresses was coming back the following Monday, so it actually worked out quite well. They just had to rearrange all the shifts (which would have happened anyway), and because I was leaving, they wouldn’t get less hours.

I started on Tuesday the 17th of August at Subway – Pride Park and it went really well. I enjoyed it and everyone was really nice. I worked at three different Subways in Derby so far but now I am mostly working at Subway – The Spot which is around the corner from Nicky’s Lounge. Yay. -_-"

Rewiiind - Part I : My 21st B-day Weekend.

So much has happened since the 24th of July...
I moved into a 2 bedroom flat with my brother on the 24th of July. It's right in the city centre. Everything is at our doorstep, and the mall is like 5 minutes away from the flat.
My Mom was supposed to come over the same day with a car full of stuff to help us out! Then the next day was my 21st. Everything was supposed to be perfect!
... Except it didn't go as planned.
After driving approximately 9 hours to the french border in order to catch a ferry to the UK, my mom was stopped and sent back. She had to drive another 9 hours back home and almost had an accident on the way back. I was at work when I received a call from Anja's fiancé. He told me what had happened and I was devastated. I had such a bad night and couldn't stop crying.

Then Sunday it was my 21st birthday and I was in a really great mood, obviously. Anja & Alistair knew that I was really down and decided to take me out for a quick birthday breakfast before I went to work. I then thought that I really had to get a grip on myself otherwise I was going to ruin the party later that day. So after work I quickly got ready, or at least I tried! Philippa and I took the bus together and arrived there pretty much on time. We had a nice BBQ and luckily, it only started to rain by the time we were finished eating.

So we all went inside, talked and laughed for a while until I found Anja a bit too excited suddenly. She kept on looking through the window and then suddenly told me: "Your surprise is here". I went to the window and saw a white limo waiting there! I really didn't expect that! Awesome surprise!

We drove around the centre of Derby for about an hour (if I remember correctly) and it was loads of fun. Then we got dropped off in town and went to Walkabout and had the place to ourselves (it was a Sunday), so we were all dancing like retards :).
It was a great birthday!

Finally got a job...

I am now a part-time waitress in a restaurant in the centre of Derby. I work only 16 hours a week though.... I have Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays off. I'm thinking of getting a second job, but I do casual work on my days off sometimes. Last Friday and Saturday, I worked at 2 weddings for example...
I like where I work. I think I prefer it to all the other places I have worked at before. I get along with everyone. All the girls are very nice and friendly.
Now next step. Have to find an apartment!
I have viewed quite a few already but they're quite expensive... but I'm continuing my search!
I will probably be getting a 2 bedroom place with my brother...
Hopefully, I will find one sooooon!

Derby

Okay so, I arrived safely in Derby...... but 2 weeks ago!
I didn't have access to internet that much but I finally found some time to do a post.
Oh well, anyway. So everything went well. I managed to get through with over-weight luggage (I worried a lot about that). The flight was about an hour, so that went quite quick.
Here are some photos of the trip.

Little surprise when we got to the house. Thank you Anja :)

I gave out my CV to about 20 places by now... maybe more, I don't even know anymore. Stores, cafés and restaurants, in and near the Westfield mall and also via the internet. I'm really hoping to hear from one of these places soon!

On Saturday, the 29th of May, my brother and I went with Anja, her fiancé and a friend of theirs to the Big Church Day Out near Loughborough. It was amazing! I had a really good time. I was so happy to see Switchfoot! =)

So yeah, that's about it... I've been mainly job hunting. Now I'm just waiting for at least one response!
Wish me luck :)

No turning back now

My brother (Karl) and I, have finally booked our aeroplane tickets!!! I'm so excited! We will be flying with Bmibaby on the 19th of May from Paris to the East Midlands. When I saw the huge "Confirmed", that's when my heart started beating and I realised... No turning back now! I am really going to work and live in England!

“Hope is not a dream but a way of making dreams become reality.”

I love singing. Becoming a singer has always been my dream, ever since I was a little girl.

I'm not very good at putting up new videos on youtube because it always takes me ages to make one. There's always something I don't like and I have to do the whole thing all over again. It just goes on for hours. I get so frustrated and angry with myself that I just can't finish! I guess I'm a perfectionnist when it comes to music... which doesn't seem to be such a good thing!

I've had 2 producers very interested in me, but it's always been so slow.
The first one was in Germany. I was 15 then and he was just stringing me along for years. I eventually just gave up.
The second one is in Paris. It's been going on for a year now.
He tells me he wants to first finish the projects he's busy with and then start something with me, but it's taking ages. I just can't afford to sit around and wait anymore. I have to get on with my life. Besides, the world isn't lacking producers... Eventually one day I will find the right one. At least I hope I will.

“You can't just sit there and wait for people to give you that golden dream. You've got to get out there and make it happen for yourself.” ~ Diana Ross

I participate in singing competitions on the internet whenever I can but there aren't many. I've only done 2 so far, but have won both. :)
The first one was in 2007, on the website of the biggest radio station in France, "NRJ", and I won 5 000 euros. I just had to make a video of myself singing 30 seconds of the song "Listen" by Beyoncé. The second one was in 2009 and also on the website of "NRJ". I had to do another video of myself singing a song of my choice. I won a Nintendo Wii.

So, there you know a little bit more about meee :)
